The tragedy in Japan is something you can't really put into words. We seem to concern ourselves so much with the material things that surround us--houses, kitchens, clothing, cars--while simultaneously losing track of life around us. Ultimately, we all live in our little bubbles of self-gratification and we only worry about events like this when they hit close to home. But there is something ominous about all of these natural disasters that are occurring each year, with each one worse than the last.
I think that events like the one unfolding in Japan are a reminder how vulnerable we all are, and how easily everything we care about can crumble before us and get sucked out to sea. No doubt the people of Japan will get through this, and hopefully the good people of the world will help them out. It would be nice if people on the news could respect the tragedy, instead of worrying about gasoline prices and how this will harm the stock market. Let's give our support to Japan and our prayers are with them.
